Ankita and Ria cook focaccia in Page House!

We both love baking and have too much flour and yeast. What better thing to do than put these extra components together to bake bread?

bread mixing
We started by mixing together our ingredients.

Then, we put our mixed dough into a container to proof overnight in the fridge.

We forgot to take the dough out of the fridge for a room-temperature rise, so we put it out in the sun instead. The warmer temperatures allowed it to expand and rise quite a bit!

Ankita harvested some fresh rosemary from outside the Chen Neuroscience Building!
our setup
Now, with our fluffy dough and fresh rosemary, it was time to decorate!

Dimpling time! We added rosemary, salt, and even more rosemary and olive oil to the top of the bread before popping it in the oven for half an hour.

Our finished focaccia! We were able to share with our friends, and everyone really enjoyed it!

  • Hi! I graduated in 2024 and was a member of Page house. I was involved with a number of student organizations on campus including serving as Director of Operations in student government, part of the Executive Board for Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans Plus (APIDA+), and was involved with student publications like the literary magazine Looseleaf and the newspaper, The California Tech. Outside these activities, I enjoy spending time with friends outside on or off campus (like the Huntington Gardens), and love to read and get books from the local library.
