One of my favorite Page House traditions is something called 15 for 15. You can get 15 people to go out and do something together, and each person gets $15 dollars to make it happen (just no food or drinks, unfortunately, or else the house would go broke).
In the spring of 2024, I decided to turn that into a SoulCycle 15 for 15. SoulCycle is a forty-five minute cycling workout where you clip into a stationary bike in a dim room with absolute bangers playing. I started going on my own, and after a lot of people mentioned wanting to try it, I decided to make it a 15 for 15 by gathering fifteen Pageboys for a class. All we had to do was pick a date and approve it with the house, and before we knew it, we were walking over to the SoulCycle studio on Lake Avenue, just a fifteen-minute stroll from campus. Everyone got set up on their bikes, and we were all genuinely excited to take a break from sets and the usual Caltech grind to move and laugh together.
It ended up being such a hit that we brought it back again in the spring of 2025 and somehow only bigger. I managed to rally 30 Pageboys this time for a Beyoncé-themed ride. After lots of sweating and singing, our instructor (shoutout Diego!) even threw in a few “Whose House?” shoutouts toward the end of class, which got everyone a little hyped, a little embarrassed, and very amused.
What I love most about these 15 for 15s is how they remind us that Caltech life doesn’t have to stay within campus walls. The student discount at SoulCycle (yes, Caltech is included!) makes it easy to drop in for a class before or after a long day in lab or lecture. For me, it’s become the perfect way to reset — to move, breathe, and reconnect with friends outside of academics.
Two years in, SoulCycle 15 for 15 has become a little Page House tradition I’m really proud of. Here’s to year three and hopefully an even bigger class for my final year running this tradition in a few months!
