Hey, everyone!

I’m Lucas Demetriades, an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor at Caltech and the Admissions Officer (AO) responsible for the re-launch of our student blog with the help of Admissions Ambassadors Michael Gutierrez and Juni Polansky. One new element we are introducing to the blog will be AO guest posts such as this one! I’ll go ahead and introduce myself.

I actually grew up right here in Pasadena before venturing off to the rural Midwest to study physics at a small liberal arts college. I’ve been so excited to bring my passions for STEM and the small college experience to an institution that embodies both so incredibly!

My hope for this blog is that it will continue to grow as a tool for prospective students and families to get to know Caltech better, especially from the student experience perspective. As someone who scoured many admissions blogs during his own college search process, I know how helpful (and exciting!) such information can be. We’ll be trying out a variety of new approaches both content- and format-wise, so stay tuned!
